- Part-time, Full-time Overview Join our team as a Veterinary Medical Assistant and become an important part of providing compassionate patient care while supporting hospital operations and cleanliness.
This role works closely with the veterinarian to assist with patient handling, examinations, treatments, and maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment. A large portion of this position involves hospital maintenance, instrument processing, sterilization, and ensuring treatment and surgical areas meet high standards of cleanliness and infection control. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with animals, takes pride in organization and cleanliness, and thrives in a fast paced veterinary environment. Responsibilities Assist the veterinarian with patient restraint and handling during examinations, treatments, diagnostics, and procedures. Prepare and clean exam rooms, treatment areas, dental stations, surgical areas, and patient care spaces between appointments. Clean, sterilize, wrap, and package surgical instruments and surgical packs following clinic protocols. Operate autoclaves and maintain sterilization logs and instrument organization. Clean and disinfect dental tables, treatment tables, exam tables, cages, kennels, and hospital equipment. Assist with patient preparation, recovery monitoring, and general patient care under veterinarian supervision. Perform hospital cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, laundry, dishes, trash removal, stocking supplies, and maintaining overall clinic cleanliness. Prepare procedure packs, restock supplies, organize inventory, and maintain treatment and surgical areas. Care for hospitalized patients including feeding, walking, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring comfort. Support general clinic operations to help maintain workflow and efficiency. Qualifications Previous veterinary, kennel, animal care, or medical environment experience preferred but not required. Comfort handling dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments. Strong attention to detail with a commitment to cleanliness and infection control. Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, bending, lifting, cleaning, and moving equipment. Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced environment while maintaining organization. Reliable, motivated, and team oriented with a willingness to learn. Experience with instrument sterilization, surgical preparation, or veterinary cleaning procedures is a plus.
