About the Role NVC Nederland is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodial Services Technician to help maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and professional hospital environment. This role is responsible for cleaning and maintaining treatment areas, exam rooms, client spaces, restrooms, kennels, surgical support areas, offices, hallways, break rooms, and other common areas throughout the hospital. This position also includes occasional cleaning and upkeep of an off-site apartment used for veterinarian housing. Apartment cleaning is completed on an irregular, as-needed basis. The ideal candidate is reliable, hardworking, organized, and able to work independently while supporting a fast-paced emergency veterinary team. Key ResponsibilitiesHospital Cleaning and Sanitation Clean and maintain hospital areas including the lobby, reception area, exam rooms, treatment areas, ICU/ER spaces, surgical support spaces, kennels, restrooms, break rooms, offices, hallways, entrances, and common areas Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, disinfect, and sanitize floors, counters, walls, windows, doors, and surfaces Clean and disinfect high-touch areas such as door handles, phones, counters, seating areas, restrooms, and shared staff spaces Remove trash, recycling, and biohazard support materials as directed and according to hospital protocol Restock paper towels, toilet paper, soap, sanitizer, cleaning supplies, and restroom/break room essentials Keep a weekly supply list and communicate supply needs before items run out Support odor control and overall hospital presentation Follow hospital sanitation and infection-control standards Veterinary Support Cleaning Assist with kennel cleanliness and patient-area sanitation as directed Clean and disinfect cages, runs, and boarding support areas when needed Support post-procedure room turnover and sanitation Assist with laundry, including towels, blankets, scrubs, patient bedding, mop heads, and cleaning linens Maintain proper separation of clean and soiled materials Off-Site Apartment Cleaning Clean and maintain the hospital's off-site veterinarian housing apartment as needed Complete deep cleaning between stays Handle laundry and linen turnover Sanitize kitchen and bathroom areas Remove trash and restock basic supplies Report maintenance concerns, damages, or supply needs Ensure the apartment remains clean, professional, and guest-ready Facility and Safety Support Follow OSHA safety standards and hospital cleaning protocols Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and supplies Report maintenance concerns such as plumbing issues, equipment concerns, safety hazards, supply shortages, or repair needs Help maintain a safe environment for patients, clients, doctors, and staff Support hospital readiness for leadership walkthroughs, inspections, and daily operations Must-Have Qualifications Dependable attendance and punctuality Strong attention to detail Ability to work independently and stay productive Ability to manage time and complete tasks efficiently Reliable transportation Ability to lift 40+ pounds Ability to perform physical work, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and repetitive movement Comfortable working around animals, cleaning chemicals, odors, noise, and emergency hospital activity Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, early mornings, late evenings, and occasional off-site apartment cleaning Preferred Qualifications Previous custodial, housekeeping, janitorial, environmental services, or facility cleaning experience Veterinary hospital or healthcare cleaning experience Knowledge of sanitation, infection control, or medical facility cleaning standards Experience working in a 24/7 or fast-paced environment High school diploma or equivalent preferred What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is: Reliable Professional Detail-oriented Hardworking Organized Flexible Team-focused Self-motivated Proud of doing the job right Physical Requirements This position requires frequent: Standing and walking for extended periods Lifting and carrying supplies and equipment Bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching Repetitive movement Working around animals and veterinary medical activity Exposure to cleaning agents and disinfectants Working during high-volume and emergency hospital operations Why This Role Matters A clean hospital protects patients.
