Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Veterinary Kennel Assistant to join our dynamic team. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about animal care and veterinary support. The successful candidate will assist with kennel duties, animal handling, and supporting veterinary staff to ensure the comfort, safety, and health of our patients. Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kennels, treatment areas, and equipment in accordance with hospital protocols. Provide daily care for animals including feeding, watering, exercising, and monitoring their behavior and health status. Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint during examinations, procedures, or treatments. Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinary staff while adhering to aseptic techniques. Support laboratory procedures by collecting samples or preparing animals for diagnostic testing when necessary. Handle animals gently and confidently, demonstrating knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and behavior to ensure safety for both animals and staff. Maintain accurate records of animal care activities, treatments administered, and observations noted during shifts. Experience Candidates should possess prior kennel experience or background in animal husbandry, with a strong understanding of pet care practices. Experience working in veterinary clinics or with veterinary technicians is highly desirable. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, medication administration, animal restraint techniques, and laboratory procedures will be advantageous. Additional skills include dog handling expertise, knowledge of animal catheterization procedures, aseptic techniques, and experience with equine or other large animals is a plus. Excellent animal handling skills combined with a genuine passion for pet welfare are essential for success in this role.

$17.00 - $20.00 per hour
