Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Veterinary Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional animal care and support veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical services. Your enthusiasm for animal health, combined with your technical skills, will ensure our patients receive compassionate treatment and thorough attention. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of animals, including dogs, cats, equines, and small mammals, in a fast-paced and rewarding environment. Duties Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques. Perform animal restraint and handling to ensure safety for both animals and staff during examinations and treatments. Conduct laboratory tests, including blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostics to support accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed records of patient histories, treatments, medication administration, and laboratory results. Support pet owners with pet care advice, including grooming, feeding instructions, and post-operative care instructions. Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians while ensuring proper animal physiology understanding. Take radiographs (X-ray) and assist with diagnostic imaging procedures to aid in accurate diagnosis. Handle animal husbandry tasks such as cleaning kennels, feeding animals, and monitoring their overall health status. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and performing animal dentistry tasks like cleaning and polishing teeth. Support veterinary critical care efforts by monitoring vital signs and providing emergency assistance when needed. Manage animal catheterization procedures and ensure proper aseptic techniques are followed throughout all clinical tasks. REQUIRED.
Demonstrated veterinary technician experience with knowledge of veterinary terminology and animal anatomy. Experience working with laboratory diagnostics, X-ray imaging, and pet grooming is a plus. Familiarity with dog handling techniques, dog training methods, and pet grooming practices enhances your effectiveness in this role. Knowledge of equine care or experience working with horses is advantageous but not mandatory. Strong animal handling skills across various species including dogs, cats, small mammals, or equines are essential for success in this position. Previous exposure to veterinary critical care environments will be viewed favorably as it demonstrates your ability to thrive under pressure while providing compassionate patient care.
