Job Description

Overview Lambertville Animal Hospital in Lambertville, NJ is in need of an anesthesia/surgery technician. The ideal candidate has previous experience, including surgical prep, inducing anesthesia, monitoring during anesthesia, recovery, and discharge. A licensed/certified technician is preferred, but consideration will be given to a non-certified but highly experienced candidate. Experience with dentistry is a plus. This is a 2 to 3 day a week position; our current surgical days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (but these can be altered to suit). Additional shifts are available if the ideal candidate needs more hours. We are a professional (but fun!), family-owned, small animal hospital with no after-hours or on-call duties for staff. We have a great clientele and staff who get along well. Our doctors are easy to work with and really respect our staff's personal lives. We offer a competitive salary and benefits that include PTO and pet discounts. Please check out our website if you would like to know more about us! If you are interested in joining a great group of people that work as a team and really make a difference in our community, please email me and we can set up a time to talk. Responsibilities Assist veterinarians with medical examinations, treatments, anesthesia and surgical procedures, ensuring all protocols are followed accurately. Perform animal restraint and handling using humane techniques to facilitate examinations and procedures. Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and operate diagnostic equipment such as X-ray machines to aid in accurate diagnoses. Maintain detailed records of animal health, treatments, and laboratory results following aseptic techniques. Assist with dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and supporting dental cleanings or surgeries. Perform animal catheterization, injections, and other veterinary technician responsibilities with precision and care. Contribute to critical care situations by supporting veterinary critical care protocols for emergency cases involving animals. Assist other staff in maintaining a clean hospital. Requirements Certification as a Veterinary Technician or equivalent credential from an accredited program preferred, but will consider years of experience. Proven experience working with small animals in a veterinary setting. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and restraint techniques. Experience with laboratory procedures, X-ray operation, and aseptic techniques necessary for diagnostic work. Ability to handle dogs and cats confidently through Fear Free techniques. Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures related to pet dentistry is preferred. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and educate pet owners on animal care needs.
