Job Description
Limerick Mills Animal Hospital is a privately owned, four doctor, mixed (large and small) animal practice in Limerick, Maine. We have grown a doctor and are looking to add to our support staff as well! Limerick Mills Animal Hospital is a fast-paced and hard-working group of veterinary staff. We are looking to add someone to our wonderful support staff that is eager to learn and ready to boogie around the clinic. We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician or Assistant to join our team, but are willing to train the right person! As a Veterinary Technician or Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to the veterinarians and ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality of care. An ideal applicant is eager to learn and is not afraid of working hard and getting a little dirty. We are looking for a motivated team player that has good energy and patience!
Duties:
- Assist the veterinarian with examinations, surgeries, and other medical procedures
- Collect and record thorough medical histories
- Administer medications and vaccines as directed by the veterinarian
- Maintain cleanliness around the hospital
- Prepare for and take x-rays
- Perform laboratory tests and analyses
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment
- Educate clients on pet care and answer their questions
- Aid in communication between veterinarians and clients
Experience:
- A degree in veterinary technology or equivalent experience is preferred, but not required. We are willing to train the right person!
- Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic is preferred but not required
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills
