Vice President of Tax A Strategic Architect of Wealth, Structure, and Long?

Term Legacy People Architects is leading the search for the Vice President of Tax for a very large family trust. The VP of Tax is the Principal's most trusted advisor on all matters of taxation, structuring, and long?term wealth strategy. This is a rare opportunity to step into a high?influence, high?visibility leadership role at the center of a sophisticated family office ecosystem-guiding tax strategy across individuals, trusts, partnerships, corporations, and multi?entity investment structures. You will shape the family's tax posture for decades to come, architecting strategies that protect wealth, unlock opportunity, and ensure flawless compliance across a dynamic portfolio of assets. This is a role for a deep technical expert who also thrives as a strategic thinker, relationship builder, and operational leader. What You'll Lead Tax Strategy & Planning (Your Strategic Superpower) Serve as the family's senior tax strategist-designing forward?looking tax plans that optimize wealth, minimize exposure, and support long?term legacy goals. Build and model sophisticated tax strategies across investments, entity structuring, wealth transfer, liquidity events, and major transactions. Stay ahead of tax law changes and proactively advise the CFO and family stakeholders on risks, opportunities, and strategic implications. Tax Compliance & Governance (Precision at Scale) Oversee all federal, state, and local tax filings for individuals, trusts, partnerships, corporations, and related entities. Ensure every return is accurate, timely, and aligned with the family's broader financial strategy. Serve as the primary point of contact for family members-translating complex tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance. Coordinate seamlessly with external CPAs, estate attorneys, and investment professionals to maintain a unified tax posture. Leadership & Team Development (Build Your Own Center of Excellence) Lead and elevate the tax function-developing a high?performing team known for technical excellence, responsiveness, and impeccable execution. Set clear expectations, coach continuously, and cultivate a culture of accuracy, professionalism, and strategic thinking. Strengthen internal processes, systems, and workflows to support a world?class family office environment. What You Bring 10+ years of progressive tax experience with deep expertise in high?net?worth individuals, trusts & estates, partnerships, and multi?entity structures. Experience in family offices, private client services, or boutique advisory firms serving ultra?high?net?worth families. Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Taxation strongly preferred. CPA required. Mastery of federal, state, and local tax codes across individual, trust, partnership, corporate, gift, and estate taxation. Exceptional technical acumen paired with the ability to communicate clearly with non?tax professionals. A proactive, strategic mindset-someone who sees around corners and identifies opportunities before others do.
