QUALIFICATIONS
1) A valid New Jersey School Principal Certification. 2) Co-Curricular experience necessary, preferably coaching at a high level 3) Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL
To organize, supervise, coordinate, and promote excellence in the high school interscholastic athletic program
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES 1
) When directed by the principal and/or superintendent, serves as acting principal in the absence of the regular principal. 2) Assists the principal in the overall administration of the school, which includes maintaining safety and security of the school and its employees and creating, monitoring, and evaluating programs that assist in the social, emotional, and academic development of students. 3) Assists in the recruitment, screening, employment, training, and assigning of departmental personnel, including recommendations relating to continued employment. 4) In cooperation with the teaching staff, conducts and/or participates in staff development programs. 5) Assists with student discipline as in the absence of a grade level vice principal. 6) Cooperates in the conducting of safety inspections and emergency preparedness activities. 6) Oversees all school co-curricular activities and co-curricular advisors. 7) Oversees the Athletic Trainers including their coordination of services with the school physician. 8) Organizes, schedules, plans and supervises school wide pep rallies and extra-curricular performances. 9) Organizes, schedules, plans and supervises the Senior Athletic Awards program and maintains an Athletic Hall of Fame program. 10 Oversees the hiring recommendations, supervision, and evaluation of all coaches. 11) Prepares practice and game schedules for all athletic teams. 12) Schedules officials, police officers, medical personnel, and faculty workers for all contests. 13) Reports unsportsmanlike conduct of spectators, coaches, and/or players to the Principals and

Responsible for athletic facility and field inspections and getting the necessary repairs completed to ensure the safety of athletes and the expectation of high quality athletic fields. 16) Supervises the storage, condition, cleanliness and inventory of all classrooms, gym, locker rooms, and equipment. Maintains a neat and orderly inventory and storage location of athletic equipment. 17) Prepares a budget and keep accurate records of all expenditures and purchases for athletics and co

18) Coordinates with coaches the membership and participation in sport-specific coaches' associations, as well as required training and professional development needs. 19) Attends professional conferences as well as state and conference Athletic Directors' meetings, as directed by the principal. 20) Meets with other Vice Principals to promote interdisciplinary programs and understandings as well as to counsel and assist the Principal in matters of general interest and benefit to pupils, staff, the school, and/or the District. 21) Meets with District Athletic Directors to ensure alignment of program implementation with district policies and NJSIAA rules and regulations. 22) Conducts formal observations and summative evaluations of certified staff members, as needed, in accordance with Achieve NJ using the Stronge Model. Observations must be written in accordance with the timeline set by NJAC 6

10-4.4. 23) Conducts formative and summative evaluations of all coaching staff and, as assigned, activity advisors, ensuring documentation of performance offers feedback based on evidence. 24) Hosts pre-season meetings with coaches to clearly communicate expectations for team management, including community relations, and to review pertinent district policies and NJSIAA rules and regulations. 25) Organizes and hosts parent meetings and/or communications per sports season and/or as needed to address needs and provide information about special events, changes, projects, and anything pertinent to support clear understanding among community members. 26) Hosts meetings with activity and club advisors, as needed, to explain expectations, procedures, and protocol, as well as to address common questions, concerns and conflicts. 27) Hosts meetings with student representatives of sports teams and activities as necessary to support needs, evaluate programs, and build a culture of student leadership. 28) Coordinates public relations for the high school athletic programs including cooperation with the media. Produces athletic and music program marketing highlights for public and school consumption. 29) Implements conference and NJSIAA crowd control procedures. 30) Greets opposing teams and officials or designate someone to do the same. Ensure officials and opposing team gear and equipment is secured. 31) Oversees and schedules all events involving the use of school facilities. 32) Assumes responsibility for the attainment of all athletic awards due to the school and individuals, and the proper display of such awards. 33) Supervises eligibility requirements established by the
NJSIAA. 34
) Files game summary reports after the athletic contests. 35) Files a financial report of all gate receipts and submits records to the Board Office for audit. 36) Prepares an annual summary of all athletic programs and co-curricular programs. Submit this to the Principal and Superintendent annually. 37) Attends all home games where admission is charged, or have a designated replacement. 38) Oversees and assigns duties to the Assistant Athletic Director as needed. 39) Fosters good interpersonal relations among students and staff. 40) Holds meetings with parents of student participants relative to athletics and co-curricular programs. 42) Performs other tasks and duties assigned by the principal and/or superintendent.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
12 month position: July 1 to June 30 Salary based on education and experience on the district Salary Guide
  • starting at $92,000.
