Job Summary:
Vision Therapist will provide individualized therapy to patients with visual processing disorders, eye movement dysfunctions, and other vision-related issues. The Vision Therapist will work closely with patients, optometrists, and other healthcare providers to assess and treat various vision problems that affect daily living and learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of visual development and a passion for improving patients' quality of life through therapeutic interventions.

Performance Objectives:
Perform comprehensive vision therapy assessments to evaluate visual skills, eye coordination, depth perception, and visual processing abilities. Develop and implement personalized vision therapy programs based on individual patient needs, goals, and medical history. Work one-on-one with patients to guide them through therapeutic exercises, activities, and tools aimed at improving visual function and eye coordination. Monitor patient progress throughout the therapy process and adjust therapy programs as needed to optimize outcomes. Educate patients and their families about the importance of vision therapy and how it can improve overall visual function and quality of life. Provide guidance on at-home exercises, lifestyle adjustments, and activities that support vision therapy progress. Collaborate with optometrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to patient care. Maintain accurate patient records, documenting assessments, therapy sessions, progress notes, and outcomes. Assist in the development of educational materials and resources for patients regarding vision health and therapy techniques. Stay current with the latest research, trends, and advancements in vision therapy and related fields.
Capabilities/Key competencies:
  • Strong typing skills 50 wpm or higher
  • Solid computer experience
  • Knowledge of EHR programs within the optometry field
  • Understands basic optometric terminology and documentation standards
  • Demonstrates professional, patient-friendly communication with children and adults
  • Prioritizes tasks effectively in a clinical environment
  • Consistently meets expectations for timeliness and organization
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA and clinic policies
  • Responds well to feedback and demonstrates consistent follow-through
  • Represents clinic values through professionalism, empathy, and accuracy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in vision science, psychology, or a related field; certification in vision therapy or related certifications (preferred). Previous experience in vision therapy, optometry, or related healthcare field (preferred). Knowledge of vision therapy techniques, visual processing, and eye movement disorders. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and approachable manner. Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor with the ability to build rapport with patients of all ages. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative healthcare team. Organizational skills with the ability to manage patient schedules, treatment plans, and documentation. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to privacy standards.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods up time
  • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 25lbs of equipment
