$21.00 - $24.00 hourly Position Summary The Visitor Services Front Desk Coordinator is the welcoming face of Sunriver Nature Center & Observatory, creating a positive, engaging, and seamless experience for all guests. This role is responsible for front desk operations, admissions, retail transactions, and providing exceptional customer service to visitors, members, and program participants. Working closely with staff and volunteers, this position helps ensure the front desk and visitor areas run smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with SNCO's mission to foster curiosity and create educational experiences that inspire a deeper connection to space and the natural world. Key Responsibilities Visitor Services & Guest Experience (50%) Greet all visitors, members, and groups with warmth, professionalism, and enthusiasm. Manage front desk operations including staffing and volunteer schedule, admissions, memberships, and retail sales. Provide accurate information about exhibits, wildlife programs, events, and campus amenities. Answer phone, email, and in-person inquiries in a timely and friendly manner. Support daily visitor flow, including school groups, camps, and peak tourism periods. Ensure campus areas are clean, organized, welcoming and accessible. Report issues to appropriate team members. Assist visitors with accessibility needs and general wayfinding across campus. Represent SNCO's mission and values through positive and inclusive interactions. Ensure safety procedures are followed and support safety committee. Front Desk Operations & Daily Logistics (40%) Open and close the Nature Center, including cash handling and reconciliation. Manage purchase and restock retail merchandise, brochures, and front desk supplies. Support light operational tasks such as tidying shared spaces and monitoring front-facing areas. Communicate operational needs, visitor trends, or issues proactively to supervisors. Assist with setting up and breakdown for programs or events as needed. Volunteer & Team Support (10%) Collaborate with volunteers supporting the front desk and visitor experience. Train new Nature Center Front Desk Volunteers and Staff as needed. Provide day-of guidance and support to volunteers as needed. Take on additional assignments as needed. Qualifications Friendly, outgoing, and customer-service oriented with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. Comfortable handling cash, point-of-sale systems, and basic technology. Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Interest in nature, science, education, or community-based organizations preferred. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and move throughout the campus. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with or without assistance and occasional snow shoveling. Work includes both indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions. Ability to work positively with a diverse range of demographics. Able to work around animals and follow animal handling and safety protocols. Willingness to cross train in other areas of the organization. Schedule Expectations Approximately 26 hours per week. Schedule varies by seasonal need.
