Job Description

Overview We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Vocational Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will provide hands-on, career-focused instruction that prepares students with practical skills, industry awareness, and strong work habits for postsecondary education, training, and employment. Responsibilities Develop and implement standards-aligned, hands-on lesson plans in construction, welding, woodworking, and hydroponics Teach foundational and advanced technical skills using industry-relevant tools, equipment, and practices Maintain a safe, organized shop and lab environment in accordance with safety guidelines and OSHA standards Integrate academic concepts such as math, reading, and problem-solving into vocational instruction Manage classroom and shop behavior effectively, promoting responsibility and professionalism Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and other teachers to support student success and career pathways Mentor students in career readiness, employability skills, and work ethic Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress and program expectations Participate in professional development and maintain awareness of current industry trends Qualifications Degree or certification in a vocational/technical field, CTE, or related area preferred Industry experience in construction, welding, woodworking, hydroponics, or related trades Teaching license or ability to obtain licensure preferred Strong knowledge of tool operation, shop safety, and instructional best practices Experience working with middle and/or high school students preferred Ability to incorporate instructional technology and hands-on learning strategies Experience A degree in Elementary Education or a related field is preferred. Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is highly desirable. Familiarity with Montessori methods or other progressive educational philosophies is a plus. Strong skills in education administration, including lesson planning, assessment, and classroom management. Proficiency in behavior management techniques to support student engagement and discipline.
