This is skilled operation and maintenance work. Work involves a variety of operations, maintenance and repair activity related to Wastewater Treatment Plant and Sanitary Collections Systems Lift Stations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Participates in the operations and maintenance of Wastewater Treatment Plant Works, performs both process and equipment operations. Process wastewater effluent and sludges in appropriate manner. Monitor gauges, meters, computer-control panels while observing and interpreting variations of plant processes, using lab test result to determine process control requirements. Evaluates treatment processes and make necessary adjustments by operating valves, pumps and other plant equipment. Adjusts chemical feed rates and records pertinent data including daily flow logs, flow settings, daily process unit inspections and adjustments. Pull samples for laboratory analysis. Provides routine and corrective maintenance of equipment and facilities. Lubricate equipment, replace belts, bearings, seals, repair pumps, while maintaining records of all activities performed. Performs preventative maintenance on all plant equipment. Provides yard maintenance of all plant grounds. Monitors and maintains lift stations in the sanitary sewer collection system. Performs occasional minor laboratory analysis of plant effluent.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. In performing the functions of this position, the incumbent must use all extremities, including twisting of the body while maintaining constant awareness of the surrounding area. May have to access work area by climbing stairs or ladders, of varying sizes and depths for up to three hours per day. Is required to lift weights generally under 30 lbs, but occasionally in excess of 50 lbs, such as chlorine bottles, sodium hypochlorite containers, pumps and motors. Requires pushing and pulling weights exceeding 50 lbs periodically. Will experience some noise in area of motorized equipment. City of Vernon Public Works Division Page 2 Requires good hearing and peripheral vision as well as good color vision and depth perception to avoid hazards. Duty requires employee to stand up to 5 hours per day, sit, stoop, walk, climb, bend, crouch, push, pull and carry for the other three hours. Will be exposed to all elements of the outside environment for up to six hours per day. May experience exposure to chemicals, gases, and other irritants.JOB REQUIREMENTS
1 Graduation from High School or GED equivalent and considerable experience in manual and semi skilled work, related to the area of assignment, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge's, abilities and skills. 2 Considerable knowledge of the materials, methods and techniques used in operations of a Wastewater treatment plant and the purpose of associated lift station, along with related areas of assignment. 3 Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work. 4 Ability to read and interpret lab results and subsequently carry out necessary adjustments to plant operations. 5 Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. 6 Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. 7 Skill in the use of and care of tools and equipment. 8 Must be able to respond to job site within fifteen (15) minutesADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
1 Employee must possess a valid Texas CDL Drivers License, or obtain one within 6 months from employment date. 2 Employee must be able to obtain a TCEQ Class-D Wastewater certification within 6 months of employment, and then obtain a Class-C Wastewater certification before expiration of the Class-DSimilar remote jobs
