Wastewater Operator

The City of Shelbina is currently seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as a Wastewater Operator . This is a full-time position offering a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for training and advancement within the department. Position Overview The Wastewater Operator is responsible for assisting in the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the City's wastewater treatment facility and collection system. This position plays a critical role in protecting public health and the environment by ensuring wastewater is properly treated and managed in compliance with applicable regulations. Job Responsibilities Perform routine sampling and testing to monitor wastewater treatment processes and ensure compliance with regulatory standards Record, maintain, and report operational and laboratory data accurately Monitor plant operations and make adjustments to treatment processes as needed Conduct general maintenance and upkeep of the wastewater treatment facility, equipment, and grounds Operate and maintain collection system infrastructure, including lift stations Assist with sewer system maintenance, including jetting lines and cleaning manholes Utilize various tools and equipment in the performance of daily duties Assist with land application of wastewater sludge in accordance with regulations Perform other duties as assigned by the

City Superintendent Qualifications Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required Experience in wastewater treatment or a related field preferred, but not required (training will be provided)

Licenses and Certifications:

Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or ability to obtain within six (6) months of employment Ability to obtain and maintain the appropriate Missouri wastewater operator certification Satisfactory driving record required Work Environment / Physical Demands Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, climbing, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to work safely in potentially hazardous or unpleasant environments Use of proper safety equipment when working with wastewater and treatment chemicals Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Must be available for call-ins, after-hours work, and emergency situations as needed, with a required response time of thirty (30) minutes or less Required to perform routine "plant checks" every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) Additional Requirements Maintain continuing education credits to retain operator certification Ability to respond to operational needs and emergencies as required Benefits The City of Shelbina offers a comprehensive benefits package including: Vacation, sick leave, holidays, and personal leave Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance Training and certification opportunities How to Apply Apply through Indeed.
