Water/Sewer Utility Technician

The Battlement Mesa Metropolitan District is now accepting applications for the position of Utility Technician II. Job duties require individual to perform maintenance tasks associated with the District's water and wastewater systems in Battlement Mesa. Applicants should have experience with excavation and repair of water/sewer lines and equipment. Ability to operate a backhoe, dump truck, skid steer and other equipment is desired.

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid state driver's license.
• Must be able to read and write English language.
• Ability to work safely; ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public; ability to understand and carry out written and oral instructions.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Backhoe, dump truck, pickup truck, skid steer, tractor, snowplow, water pump, generators, soil compactor, hand tools, weed eater, tape measure, calculator.

The employee is frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The odor levels at the water and wastewater plants can range from moderate to extreme. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately loud.
