Job Description

Job Title:
MIG Welder / Fabrication Technician Job Description This role focuses on MIG and flux core welding of primarily mild steel components, operating fabrication equipment, and assisting with production processes in a small, quiet shop environment. You will interpret blueprints, weld in all positions, and help ensure that finished products meet quality and safety standards while working closely with a small team on a single shift schedule. Responsibilities Perform MIG and flux core welding on primarily mild steel components (approximately 90% mild steel and 10% other materials). Read and interpret blueprints to understand project specifications and ensure accurate fabrication. Weld in all positions to complete a variety of fabrication and production tasks. Operate fabrication machinery, including brake presses and shears, to assist in the production process. Assemble materials and equipment as required to support production and fabrication activities. Inspect finished products for defects and verify that they meet quality and safety standards. Assist in loading raw materials onto production lines and transporting raw materials within the facility. Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds as part of daily tasks. Work in pairs and collaborate with team members to complete jobs efficiently and safely. Follow attendance and workplace policies, including adherence to the established strike-based attendance system. Essential Skills 3+ years of MIG welding experience. Proficiency in MIG welding and flux core welding. Ability to weld in all positions. Experience with metal fabrication processes. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Skill in operating fabrication equipment such as brake presses and shears. Capability to inspect finished products for defects and quality issues. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality standards. Additional Skills & Qualifications Degree in a related field is a nice to have but not required. Comfort working in pairs and collaborating in a small team environment. Willingness to learn new equipment and processes as the shop adds newer machines. Reliability and consistency in attendance, with the ability to adhere to a strike-based attendance policy. Work Environment The work environment offers a small shop feel, with around 13 people on the floor including leadership, creating a close-knit and collaborative atmosphere. The facility is described as not super dirty and relatively quiet compared to many industrial settings. Team members typically work in pairs, fostering cooperation and support on the floor. The operation currently runs a single shift, with first shift hours from Monday through Thursday, 5:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Overtime is available on Fridays, typically between 5 and 8 hours; overtime is voluntary at present, but may become mandatory if there are not enough volunteers. The shop uses fabrication equipment such as brake presses and shears, along with multiple newer machines that have been added in the last two years. Safety is emphasized, with most equipment and protective gear provided, and an annual safety allowance to help cover items like steel-toe footwear and safety glasses. Attendance is managed through a three-strike system, where an initial call-in counts as a warning and subsequent occurrences accrue points. Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Johnson Creek, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $62400.00/yr. Benefits/Insurance - sign up for what you need rather than having to sign up for everything 401k, 3% match (if you're contributing 100%) 2% (if you're contributing 50%)
