Job Description

Job Title:
Production MIG Welder Job Description This role focuses on safely and efficiently performing MIG welding on steel and galvanized metal components to produce high-quality parts and assemblies according to blueprints and print specifications. You will set up and operate welding equipment, interpret drawings and weld symbols, and complete welds to precise requirements while maintaining productivity and safety standards in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities Set up and operate MIG welding equipment safely, productively, and in an ergonomically correct manner to manufacture quality parts and assemblies. Hand weld steel and galvanized metal products using blueprints and fixtures to meet all print and specification requirements. Adjust welding machines as needed to maintain consistent weld quality and minimize smoke, spatter, and defects. Produce high-quality welds with strong workmanship and minimal rejects while meeting established productivity expectations. Identify and use the correct components and fixtures required for each product, ensuring accurate fit-up and assembly. Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, part numbers, tolerances, and other data critical to quality and weld placement. Manufacture products to specifications without a fixture when required, using weld tables, tape measures, protractors, clamps, and related tools. Complete all assigned work to print requirements with limited supervision and the ability to work independently. Professionally communicate production issues, seek clarification when needed, and collaborate with front-line employees and leadership to resolve problems. Follow all safety procedures, including the proper use of safety glasses, gloves, and other protective equipment as described in job hazard analyses. Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and operational goals. Essential Skills MIG welding experience in a production or manufacturing environment. Ability to proficiently weld galvanized steel, carbon steel, and stainless steel. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, including weld symbols, part numbers, tolerances, and quality-critical data. Skill in using and reading a tape measure in both fractions and decimals. Ability to apply basic math to determine required dimensions and verify part accuracy. Capability to set up and adjust own welding machine for different materials to achieve clean welds with minimal smoke and spatter. Ability to work independently and complete work accurately to print requirements. Experience working with fabrication tools such as weld tables, clamps, tape measures, and protractors. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous manufacturing experience preferred. Experience welding stainless steel and working in a high-volume production environment. Exposure to galvanized welding and understanding of associated safety and ventilation considerations. Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and low reject rates. Effective communication skills to discuss production issues and seek clarification when needed. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
