Fabricator / Welder (Advanced Level)

Full-time Requirements Before Applying Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance Must be able to pass a drug screening Stable work history required Candidates may be required to complete a weld/fabrication test during interview process Job Summary Maritech Machine is seeking a highly skilled Fabricator/Welder with strong blueprint reading, fit-up, and precision fabrication experience. This is not an entry-level welding position. We are looking for professionals capable of producing high-quality work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment serving defense and industrial customers. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of welding processes, fabrication methods, mechanical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Candidates should be comfortable working to tight tolerances and producing cosmetically clean, structurally sound weldments that pass inspection. Responsibilities Read and interpret complex blueprints, weld symbols, fabrication drawings, and GD&T callouts Perform precision fit-up and fabrication of weldments from raw material to finished product Weld carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum using MIG and TIG processes Verify dimensions and tolerances using precision inspection tools including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, squares, and tape measures Operate fabrication equipment including press brakes, ironworkers, grinders, saws, CNC plasma tables, and waterjet cutting systems Maintain tight dimensional tolerances and produce parts that meet customer and engineering specifications Inspect finished weldments for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, distortion, and cosmetic appearance Understand weld sequencing and heat control to minimize distortion Work independently from prints with minimal supervision Assist with process improvements and fabrication planning Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas Perform sandblasting and epoxy painting of finished products. Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on welding/fabrication equipment Required Qualifications 5+ years of fabrication/welding experience in a production or precision manufacturing environment Strong understanding of GD&T and weld symbols Ability to read and interpret complex fabrication drawings and mechanical prints High proficiency in MIG and TIG welding Experience fitting and fabricating assemblies without extensive supervision Ability to hold tight tolerances and produce repeatable, high-quality work Experience with stainless steel and aluminum fabrication Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment Ability to identify and correct fabrication issues before final welding Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail Ability to lift 50 lbs and stand for extended periods Preferred Qualifications AWS welding certifications Experience working in defense, aerospace, military, or high-spec manufacturing environments CNC plasma or waterjet operation experience Forklift certification Familiarity with machining operations and machining tolerances Experience with fixture building and fabrication layout Understanding of weld distortion control and structural fit-up techniques Experience with epoxy painting and sandblasting.
