Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled TIG Welder with strong experience working with thin-gauge metals such as stainless steel and aluminum. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, capable of producing clean, high-quality welds, and able to work from engineering drawings and fabrication prints. This role plays a vital part in producing precision components for custom projects and OEM manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform TIG welding (GTAW) on thin metals, including stainless steel, aluminum, and carbon steel sheet (typically 18-10 gauge). Set up welding equipment and select proper tungsten, filler materials, and gas flow settings for each job. Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings to ensure precision and accuracy. Fit, tack, and weld assemblies while maintaining tight tolerances and cosmetic quality. Inspect finished welds for quality, penetration, and aesthetics, making necessary adjustments to maintain consistency. Work collaboratively with engineering, fabrication, and finishing teams to meet production goals and project deadlines. Maintain welding equipment, tools, and workspace in safe and clean working condition. Follow all safety and quality procedures, including proper use of PPE and handling of materials.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; welding trade certification or technical training preferred. 2+ years TIG welding experience, specifically with thin metals (18 gauge or thinner). Proven ability to weld stainless steel and aluminum with strong attention to heat control and distortion prevention. Proficient in blueprint reading and fabrication layout. Experience with fabrication tools such as grinders and brakes. Strong attention to detail, consistency, and craftsmanship. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment. Ability to meet daily production deadllines.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods. Ability to work in fabrication shop conditions with moderate noise and physical activity.
