Job Description
Job Summary We are looking for a Well-Rounded Fabricator and Welder to support our Spartanburg Tier 1 automotive facility.
This is a dual-focus role:
you will be responsible for the high-precision repair of injection molds using Laser and TIG welding , while also handling heavy industrial fabrication for the production floor. We need a "hands-on" expert who can solve mechanical problems and deliver high-quality work under tight manufacturing deadlines.Duties Precision Mold Maintenance:
Repair and restore injection molds using Laser Welding for fine-detail work and TIG for larger build-ups on parting lines and shut-offs.Heavy Shop Fabrication:
Build, modify, and repair industrial equipment from the ground up, including robotic cells, safety guarding, conveyors, and custom racking.Production Overtime:
Commit to the extended hours and weekend work necessary to cover manufacturing needs and prevent line downtime.Blueprint & Layout:
Interpret complex engineering drawings and CAD data to execute layouts, cutting, and fit-ups to exact tolerances.Tool Steel Management:
Work with hardened steels (H13, P20, etc.), applying proper heat-control techniques to ensure the structural integrity of production tooling.Equipment Operation:
Expertly operate all shop machinery, including cold saws, grinders, and drill presses. Qualifications The "Well-Rounded"Fabricator:
You must be able to take a project from a raw piece of steel to a finished assembly—not just a bench welder.TIG & Laser Welding:
Strong TIG welding skills on tool steels, stainless, and aluminum. Experience with Laser Welding for mold repair is a major advantage. Tier 1Industrial Experience:
Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.Technical Proficiency:
Ability to read blueprints, understand weld symbols, and follow GD&T requirements.Reliability:
Dependable for Day Shift attendance and willing to put in the overtime required to support the plant. Preferred Skills Direct experience with plastic injection molding tool repair. Manual machining (Mill or Lathe) to finish-grind or square up welded repairs. MIG welding for structural frames and heavy-duty equipment stands. Rigging, forklift, or overhead crane experience for handling heavy mold sections. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and safely maneuver heavy mold components. High manual dexterity and vision for precision Laser and TIG work. Ability to stand for long periods and work in a busy, high-output industrial environment.Pay:
