DATCP currently has an opening for an Environmental Health Sanitarian position within the Division of Food and Recreational Safety, Bureau of Food and Recreational Businesses. We will be filling this position at the Entry or Senior level depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Additionally, this position may be filled as bilingual or non-bilingual depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. This is a field-based position and routine travel is required. The selected applicant can select a headquarter in one of the following counties: Door, Brown, or Kewaunee County Qualifying candidates are not required to live in a county headquarter location. However, reimbursement for commuting to or from the employee's assigned headquarters is not provided (e.g., mileage, meals, parking, lodging, etc.). Routine travel within an assigned territory and throughout the state for assigned work and emergency response is required. Position Summary This position is responsible for enforcement of food & recreational health safety laws, administrative codes, regulations and standards governing retail food and recreational licensing programs, under the authority of Wisconsin Statues.Food businesses include:
Retail food establishments, including mobile food establishments, transient food establishments and vending operations.Recreational businesses include:

- Senior Bilingual Salary Information The entry level is in schedule-range 15-04 with a starting pay of $31.
Conditions of Employment:
DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States. A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment. Possess a valid driver's license or the ability to provide one's own transportation for work purposes. Travel is required for approximately 90% of this position's duties. Must possess physical abilities to climb and work at elevated heights such as on catwalks. Must have ability to; stand, walk, bend, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs. Through use of sight and hearing must be able observe physical surroundings. Must have the ability to complete outdoor job activities 12 months of the year. The employee will encounter inclement weather and extreme temperatures. Ability to fluently read, write and speak bilingually in Spanish and/or Mandarin is required for the bilingual position. Spanish and/or Mandarin skills will be assessed prior to an official offer of employment. Qualifications Minimally qualified candidates will have the following: Possession of a valid Wisconsin Registered Sanitarian (RS) or NEHA REHS/Registered Sanitarian (RS) certification; or The REHS/RS credential or application eligibility at the time of hire Bachelor's degree or higher in Environmental Health from a college accredited in the United States; or Bachelor's degree or higher accredited in the United States (with 30 semester hours of college credit in basic Science coursework; college credit in Math or Statistics); and t wo or more years of work experience in the field of environmental health; or Associate degree with 5+ years of work experience in the field of environmental health To be considered for the senior level, qualified applicants must have the following: Possession of a valid Wisconsin Registered Sanitarian (RS) or NEHA REHS/Registered Sanitarian (RS) certification For additional information on eligibility requirements see the links below: EHAC-Accredited Environmental Health Bachelor's Degree Programs EHAC-Accredited Environmental Health Master's Degree or PhD Wisconsin RS Eligibility RequirementsNEHA REHS
