Job Description

Job Overview As a Wildland Firefighter
  • Engine Boss, you will play a critical role in protecting natural resources, communities, and wildlife from the devastating effects of wildfires.
This position requires individuals who are strong leaders, physically fit, possess strong teamwork skills, and are committed to safety and service. You will be involved in various firefighting activities including fire suppression, prevention, and safety measures in remote and rugged environments. Duties Lead and engage in active firefighting operations to suppress wildfires using type 6 engines, hand tools, chainsaws, and other equipment. Follow all company safety standards and policies. Maintain a clean driving record. Monitor weather conditions and fire behavior to assess risks and inform strategies. Document time, receipt, accidents, and other paperwork while ensuring everything is submitted to direct supervisor. Participate in and occasionally lead training sessions to enhance firefighting skills and knowledge of safety protocols. Maintain equipment and vehicles, ensuring they are in good working condition for operational readiness. Collaborate with other firefighting teams and agencies to coordinate efforts effectively. Experience At least 1 year of experience in firefighting or emergency response as an Engine Boss is preferred. Must be a current and qualified Engine Boss Familiarity with first aid practices, CPR, basic life support techniques, and vital signs monitoring is preferred. A valid driver's license is required for operating type 6 engines and other similar vehicles. Ability to perform heavy lifting and endure physically demanding tasks in challenging environments. Mechanical knowledge is beneficial for maintaining equipment used during firefighting operations. Pay $30.00
