Secondary Coverage:
Prior wildland firefighting experience is required. Willing to live/work in remote locions (volile/unpredictable). Some Fire positions may have Conditions of Employment such as: a valid ste driver's license; a commercial driver's license (CDL); pre-appointment and random drug testing; or a physical or medical examinion. Qualificions In order to qualify, you must meet the eligibility and qualificions requirements as defined below by the closing de of the announcement. For the GW-08: You must have one year specialized experience equivalent to the GW-07 in the Federal service. OR two full years (36 semester/54 quarter hours) of successfully completed gradue level educion or master's degree if the coursework is directly reled to the work of the position (such as forestry, range management, agriculture); OR combinions of gradue level educion th is directly reled to the position (in excess of 18 semester/27 quarter hours) and specialized experience. The educion must have been obtained in an accredited college or university.Examples of Specialized Experience are:
Serving as burn boss using various methods in broadcast burning, pile burning, and under burning operions. Performing fire pre-suppression or suppression duties on a fire line controlling wildfire and using fire to accomplish fuel trement prescriptions. Assisting in monitoring fire behavior, evaluing fire effects, identifying potential problems and making basic recommendions. Assisting in developing and executing prescribed burning plans for complex burn projects and a wide variety of fuel types. Addressing a broad range of technical fire management problems, such as analyzing on-the-ground fuel conditions and weher. Assisting in developing specific plans for burning projects after analyzing fuels. Recommending direction on priorities, objectives and deadlines for prescribed fire, wildland fire and/or other nural resource activities.Selective Placement Factors:
Successfully completed the Primary NWCG Core Requirement of Prescribed Fire Burn Boss (RXB2)- AND•successfully completed the Secondary NWCG Core Requirement of Engine Boss (ENGB)•OR•Crew Boss (CRWB)•OR•Helicopter Manager Boss (HMGB)•OR•Felling Boss (FELB)•OR•Heavy Equipment Boss (HEQB).
- Fire Program Management (FS-FPM) qualificions must be met by the time of selection.
Currency Requirement :
Required to maintain currency once hired into the position. Currency of NWCG qualificions is not required for selection. If not currently qualified, the applicant must provide documented evidence th they have been fully qualified in the past, and are able to regain currency within one year of being hired. Failure to provide this documention will result in disqualificion. This position has been identified under the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) or Forest Service Fire Program Management (FS-FPM) and is subject to selective placement factor requirements contained in the Interagency Fire Program Management (IFPM) Standard and Guide when filling this vacancy. IFPM or FS-FPM selective placement factors are made up of a primary and secondary Nional Wildfire Coordining Group (NWCG) core Incident Management Qualificions and Required Training. The applicant must possess these qualificions the applicable complexity level to be considered eligible for this position. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through Nional Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizions (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience th transles directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.FIREFIGHTER RETIREMENT COVERAGE
This is a secondary firefighter position under 5 USC 8336 (CSRS) and 8412(d) (FERS). Prior wildland firefighting experience is required. There is no age limit for entry into secondary positions.
