$58,000 - $68,000 annually, with potential for higher compensation based on nursing licensure and bilingual abilitiesJob SummaryThis Safety Analyst position is primarily responsible coordinating The Workers Compensation program for Versova Management farms. This role serves as the primary point of contact for workplace injury reporting, claims management, and return-to-work coordination, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local workers' compensation laws and regulations. The analyst collaborates closely with injured employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, medical providers, and legal counsel to facilitate timely and accurate claim filings, monitor claim progress, and minimize costs while prioritizing employee well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, a thorough understanding of workers' compensation processes, and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse, multilingual workforce in a fast-paced agricultural environment. This position plays a critical role in fostering a culture of safety, supporting injured workers through the recovery process, and protecting the organization's operational and fiscal interests.Essential Job FunctionsManage all workers' compensation claims from initial report through resolution, ensuring timely and accurate filing in compliance with state and federal regulations. Serve as the primary liaison between injured employees, supervisors, insurance carriers, third-party administrators, and medical providers. Coordinate a return-to-work program, including modified/light-duty assignments, to facilitate injured employees' safe and timely return to productive employment.
Maintain accurate and confidential records for all claims, including medical documentation, investigation reports, OSHA 300/300A logs, and all required state and federal forms. Monitor claim costs, reserves, and settlements with insurance carriers/TPAs to ensure accuracy, control expenses, and support experience modification rate (EMR) management. Coordinate with medical providers to obtain work status reports, treatment updates, and ensure appropriateness of care for injured employees Prepare regular reports and data analyses on claim frequency, severity, costs, and trends for management review and strategic decision-making. Coordinate with HR and Payroll regarding wage replacement benefits, leave administration, insurance renewals, and audit preparation.
Serve as the backup to the Safety Analyst role as needed and during absences, ensuring the continued capture, entry, and processing of all safety-related data, trainings, audit findings, and other safety metrics to maintain continuity of safety reporting and data management operations.
Other duties as assignedRequired QualificationsMinimum of 2-4 years of direct, hands-on experience managing workers' compensation claims, case management, or occupational health nursing. Candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of independently handling claims from initial report through resolution. Bachelor's degree in occupational health, nursing, risk management, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and direct workers' compensation experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Nursing background strongly preferred (LPN, LVN, RN, or equivalent clinical experience), with a solid understanding of medical terminology, injury assessment, and treatment protocols. Knowledge of federal, state, and local workers' compensation laws, and claims management processes. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple open claims, meet strict deadlines, and maintain accurate and detailed records.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with claims management software or safety data tracking systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse, multilingual workforce at all levels of the organization.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and in compliance with HIPAA and company privacy policies.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret medical documentation, assess injury claims, and identify trends in safety data.
Preferred QualificationsNursing background strongly preferred (LPN, LVN, RN, or equivalent clinical experience), with a solid understanding of medical terminology, injury assessment, and treatment protocols. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred, given the diverse workforce in agricultural operations.
Experience with data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards Familiarity with safety management systems and software Experience in the agricultural or food production industry Work EnvironmentThis position is primarily office-based, with the majority of time spent on a computer managing workers' compensation claims, maintaining records, analyzing data, and preparing reports. A significant portion of the role involves daily communication with injured employees, farm supervisors, insurance carriers, medical providers, and senior management through phone, email, and in-person interactions. Occasional travel to farm locations may be necessary for employee training, or return-to-work assessments, which may include exposure to poultry and agricultural environments. The position requires the ability to oversee multiple competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment, navigate sensitive and emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy, and maintain strict confidentiality of all medical and personnel information in compliance with HIPAA and company policies. Some flexibility in working hours may be necessary to meet reporting deadlines or participate in safety initiatives.
