00 per hour Job description: Position Summary The Working Foreman is a hands-on field leader responsible for performing skilled construction and restoration work while supervising crews on historical restoration and construction projects. This role combines active trade work with daily job site leadership, ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of craftsmanship and historical accuracy. The ideal candidate is an experienced construction professional with strong leadership skills, a commitment to quality workmanship, and a passion for preserving historic structures. Key Responsibilities Hands-On Construction & Restoration Perform skilled carpentry, restoration, and general construction work alongside field crews. Assist with demolition, framing, finish work, masonry repair, window restoration, plaster work, roofing, and other restoration-related tasks. Restore and preserve historic architectural elements using proper techniques and materials. Ensure all work maintains the integrity and character of historic structures. Crew Leadership & Supervision Lead and supervise daily activities of laborers, craftsmen, and subcontractors. Assign tasks and ensure work is completed according to plans and schedules. Train and mentor crew members in proper restoration and construction techniques. Maintain productivity, morale, and accountability on the job site. Project Coordination Coordinate daily work with Project Managers and Superintendents. Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications. Monitor job progress and help maintain project timelines. Communicate job site needs, delays, and issues to management. Quality Control Ensure all work meets company standards, project specifications, and preservation requirements. Inspect completed work for accuracy, craftsmanship, and safety. Identify and resolve field problems quickly and effectively. Maintain clean and organized work areas. Safety & Compliance Enforce OSHA standards and company safety policies. Conduct daily safety checks and toolbox talks. Ensure proper use of PPE, tools, and equipment. Promote a culture of safety and professionalism on every project. Material & Equipment Management Track and manage tools, equipment, and material usage on-site. Coordinate deliveries and staging of materials. Minimize waste and protect historical materials and finishes. Qualifications 5+ years of construction experience, preferably in restoration, renovation, or commercial construction. Previous foreman or crew leadership experience preferred. Strong carpentry and general construction skills. Experience working on historical restoration projects highly preferred. Ability to read blueprints and construction documents. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Preferred Skills Knowledge of historical preservation standards and restoration methods. Experience with finish carpentry, masonry repair, plaster, or specialty restoration trades. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification. Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely. Experience mentoring apprentices or junior crew members. Physical Requirements Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly. Ability to stand, kneel, climb, and work outdoors for extended periods. Comfortable working on ladders, scaffolding, and elevated surfaces. Ability to work in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
