Job Description

Wound Care Nurse (RN) Noland Hospital Tuscaloosa
Tuscaloosa, AL Pay Rate Frequency:
Hourly Summary of Duties Responsible for providing optimal wound care services for the adult or geriatric patient including: evaluation of patients, development of patient care plans, developments of long and short term goals, delivery of direct patient care and reassessment according to established standards, practices, and regulatory requirements. Essential Job Functions Consults with the physicians concerning assessment evaluations and assists in planning and developing the skin care treatment to be performed for the patient. Initiates requests for consultation or referral, and responds to requests from the patient, physician and/or nursing staff. Examines the patient and his/her records and documents. Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings in order to recognize when to refer the patient to a physician for evaluation, supervision or directions. Implements and maintains established policies and procedures relative to skin care treatments. Interprets these to the physician, patient family members and public, as appropriate. Provides written status reports of patients that are being treated. Identifies, manages and treats patients requiring wound care. Performs a wound care assessment no less than once a week. Completes admission and weekly photographic wound care assessment and Braden scale assessment. Provides appropriate prophylaxis and treatment to patients with all stages of wounds within established protocols and under the supervision of the physician. Works with the facility's consultants as necessary and implements recommended changes as required. Performs staff RN duties and other duties as requested. Education Current RN license in the State of Alabama. Experience A minimum of two (2) years critical care or comparable medical-surgery or rehab experience required. A minimum of one (1) year wound care experience preferred. Physical Requirements for Essential Job Functions Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly. Ability to work and stand 80% of an 8 to 12 hour shift. Ability to push/pull up to 200 pounds in order to position patients, move beds, carts, etc., and aid adequately so that requirements of this position can be fully met.
