Oct 1, 2026 Job Description WUHSMS Substitute Theater Director Job Description Seeking a HS Substitute Theater Director to direct our 2026-2027 December and/or March shows for our Yoh Theatre Program. Our program focuses on theater education, and is committed to including and casting all students who want to participate. Each show has a run of eight weeks with three performances. The substitute director must be present during all working hours of the run, up to 30 hours a week of work. The substitute director is responsible for choosing and casting the play(s), creating and implementing a rehearsal calendar for the run of the show, communicating with parents and the school community, directing rehearsals with 25-50 players, directing student tech crews, and working with parent volunteers. The substitute director will lead and direct student lighting and sound tech crews. This director will be supported by the help of an off-site set designer, and an on-site set builder to design and build and paint the sets for each show, and oversee set strike. The substitute director will share style and design ideas with our team of parent costume designers and builders who will create costumes for the show(s). This director will oversee parent volunteers who keep our website up to date, work the ticket table, provide food and snacks. This director will oversee and direct students who design posters and programs, pull and create props, and take care of the backstage areas.
