This position is loced in the United Stes Property & Fiscal Office (USPFO) Supply & Services Division, Ammunition Supply Point (ASP), loced Kingwood, West Virginia. This is an Army Nional Guard (ARNG) Dual Stus Technician position requiring military membership, compible military skill assignment, and classificion. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a working leader of 3 or more employees performing the handling, storage, examining, transporting, and identifying of ammunition and explosives to detect defects, serviceability, deteriorion, and compliance with all ammunition and explosives regulions, acceptable standards, specificions, or contractual requirements, as well as develop policy and procedures to support day to day operions. Serves as a working leader in accomplishing trades and labor work. The highest level of non-supervisory work led is Ammunition Inspector, WG-6501-09. The supervisor issues instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines, and relies on the incumbent to assure th work assignments are carried out by other members of the group. The supervisor is available to provide informion or decisions regarding problems th may arise during work.

MAJOR DUTIES

1. Communices instructions received from supervisor to work team, and inities work (e.g., by assigning the immedie tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led). Ensures needed plans, drawings, merial, schemics, applicable technical manuals, and tools are available, and needed stock is available. Ensures there is enough work to keep everyone in work crew effective, efficient, and busy contributing significantly to the overall mission. Checks work in progress and when finished, checks for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines. Urges or advises other employees to follow supervisor's instructions and to meet established and impromptu deadlines, demonstres proper work methods. Answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instruction, and other directives (e.g., schemics, technical orders); obtains needed informion or decisions from the supervisor on problems th come up during the work. 2. Works along, side-by-side, and partners with other workers, performing the duties of an Ammunition Inspector WG-6501-09 and sets the pace of co-workers being lead. Performs the identical duties and responsibilities as the work team such as, however is not limited to: a. Conducts pre-issue inspection of ammunition items prior to issue. Checks each item for restrictions or suspensions. Inspects vehicles, equipment, and storage areas reling to the safety and security of ammunition and explosives (A&E). Advises using units on the proper procedures for completion of documention for issue and turn-in of ammunition and residue. Performs receipt inspections on all ammunition and components turned in by using units. Assists in the inspection and classificion of ammunition throughout the ste. Provides input regarding causes of ammunition un-serviceability and takes approprie action when ammunition deteriorion is found to be other than "fair wear and tear". Inspects small arms ammunition to ensure segregion of ball and blank ammunition. b. Assists in the inspection of ammunition, to include performing maintenance, care, preservion, shipping and storage operions, assuring compliance with Standard Opering Procedures (SOPs), safety regulions, drawings, etc. during operions. Conducts visual, mechanical, functional, stic or dimensional tests as required. Uses and maintains test equipment including calibrion equipment. Sets up and operes specialized Ammunition Peculiar Equipment (APE). Valides merial to assure compibility of explosive items. Spot checks ammunition accountability, and stock accounting procedures; tends Safety Committee meetings and partners with other subject mter experts to review SOP's and prepare hazard analysis. Participes in required quarterly inventories. Contributes to causive research by identifying merial with lost identificions or found on post through verificion inspection. c. Responsible for the requirements of all ammunition management documention. Researches, analyzes, and completes the proper and required documention of ammunition transfer records, surveillance records, ammunition condition reports, quality deficiency reports, magazine da cards and numerous other documention and/or reports. Inities and maintains inspection reports, publicions, and files. Verifies all services' suspension and restriction notices. Records inspection results to the Depot Surveillance Record (DSR) in the Munitions History Program (MHP). 3. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Help Conditions of employment

Must complete a Training and Certificion Program for personnel working in ammunition operions. Must perform TDY in conjunction with duties. This position is subject to the Lautenberg amendment to the gun control act of 1968 which makes it a felony for anyone who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence to ship, transport, possess, or receive firearms or ammunition. Civilian personnel of the Department of the Defense are not exempt from this provision.
