Job Description

Responsibilities:
Looking for a motivated candidate to work 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. M-F with flexibility.
Position Summary:
Youth Support Worker provides day-to-day care, guidance, and support to youth residing in a residential care setting. This role focuses on fostering a safe, nurturing, and structured environment that promotes personal growth, independence, and positive life skills. The worker serves as a role model, advocate, and mentor for youth who may be experiencing emotional, behavioral, or social challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Daily Care & Supervision:
Ø Ensure the safety, well-being, and supervision of youth in the home at all times. Ø Assist with daily routines such as meals, hygiene, school attendance, and recreation. Ø Administer medications and follow care plans as directed. Ø Documents all relevant information on each child in the daily report Ø Attends all staff meetings and completes all annual training requirements Ø Wears appropriate attire per the Employee Handbook guidelines Ø Knows and follows all Cottage policies and procedures
Emotional & Behavioral Support:
Ø Build positive, trusting relationships with youth through consistent, respectful interactions. Ø Implement behavior management strategies and support crisis intervention when necessary. Ø Encourage youth to express themselves constructively and develop healthy coping skills. Ø Follow disciplinary protocol procedures.
Program Implementation:
Ø Facilitate life skills, educational, and recreational activities in alignment with individual care plans. Ø Support youth in goal-setting, problem-solving, and developing personal responsibility. Ø Maintain structure and consistency in the home according to program guidelines and policies. Ø Support youth in extra curriculum activities outside of the Cottage. Church of their choosing, sports, events, etc. Ø Works assigned schedule with a rotating "On Call Schedule". Ø Complies with safety rules and performs duties in a safe manner
Communication & Documentation :
Ø Record daily logs, incident reports, and behavioral observations accurately and promptly. Ø Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, families, and other professionals. Ø Attend team meetings, training sessions, and case conferences as required. Ø Logs all meds in resident's file Ø Do med error sheets as needed Ø Update all MARS for Youth when new medication is prescribed. Ø Fill out proper forms and give to supervisor when you do weekly and monthly deep room checks Ø Follow all State and Federal Protocols of the facility. Ø Communicate, fill out proper emergencies. Ø Communicates all child needs to supervisor Ø Resolves complaints or concerns Ø Read Resident files to be up-to-date on their life situation's.
Household Responsibilities:
Ø Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming home environment. Ø Participate in meal preparation, household chores, and transportation duties as needed. Ø Do weekly and monthly deep room checks.
Qualifications:
Ø Highschool diploma or equivalent Ø 2 years of direct childcare experience preferred, but not required. Ø Must be 21 years or older Ø Must have a valid driver's license and clear driving record, (If applicable). Ø Microsoft Office suite proficiency Ø Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Human Services, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Ø Experience working with youth in residential or community-based settings preferred. Ø Knowledge of trauma-informed care, behavior management, and youth development principles. Ø Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills. Ø First Aid/CPR, and other relevant certifications (or willingness to obtain). Ø Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overnights.

Work Environment:
This position involves working in a residential setting with youth who may display challenging behaviors or emotional distress. Workers are expected to maintain a calm, supportive demeanor and uphold program standards of care at all times.

Ø Appropriate and effective interaction with staff, management, volunteers and the public Ø Accomplishment of job functions in an effective and timely manner Ø Demonstration of increasing level of job knowledge and proficiency Ø Exercises sound judgement in the absence of specific guidelines Ø Accuracy and timeliness in completing assigned projects and paperwork Ø Adherence to and enforcement of Cottage policies and procedures
