Job Overview:
The Special Education Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and adapting educational programs to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. These professionals work with students who have various learning, behavioral, and developmental challenges, ensuring that they receive an inclusive and individualized education.
QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED
Possession of a special education teaching license through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's degree preferred SEI Endorsement Experience working with children and adolescents in a school or clinical setting. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check (C.O.R.I.) and fingerprint check. Reports to: Building Principal

Key Responsibilities:
Provide individualized instruction based on students' IEP goals and learning profiles by adapting teaching strategies, materials, and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, and specific learning needs. Collaborate with parents, other educators, and specialists to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each student's requirements. Plan and deliver lessons that align with the students' IEP goals and accommodate their diverse learning styles. Modify and adapt curriculum materials to address individual needs, ensuring that instructional methods are accessible to all students. Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to provide consultation on behavior management strategies. Collaborate with IEP (Individualized Education Program) teams to ensure behavioral goals are aligned with educational objectives. Maintain accurate records of students' progress, behavior incidents, and interventions to track growth and inform instructional decisions. Use data to monitor effectiveness, adjust strategies as needed, and ensure accountability in meeting students' IEP goals. Collaborate with parents and guardians to share information about educational plans and strategies.

Ability to move freely about the building to perform duties with staff. Ability to utilize computers and other administrative technologies appropriate to the position.
