TITLE:
Lunch Room Monitor
FLSA STATUS
Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
Exceptional interpersonal skills to ensure positive interaction with students. Working knowledge of effective methods of dealing with children. Ability to reason and solve minor problems. Must obtain and maintain a CDL Bus license and drive a bus when called upon to do so.

JOB GOAL
Monitor students in the lunchroom and perform lunchroom duties.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitor students during meal service. Ensure that students behave correctly while in the lunchroom Maintain general discipline in the cafeteria by ensuring that every student is seated properly at his or her designated place. Assist students in securing trays and handling seating arrangements. Make sure that cafeteria is a safe environment for students by handling general maintenance and cleanliness needs appropriately. Report any unruly behavior to school administrator or teacher. Circulate through the cafeteria to ensure supervision of all students within the area. Obtains and maintains CDL bus license. Completes the pre-trip and post-trip inspection. Drives a bus when called upon to do so while maintaining proficiency in driving skills. Maintains bus route schedule. Maintains discipline and reports undisciplined students to school administration. Discharge students only at authorized stops and transport only authorized students. Complies with local and state traffic regulations and observes all mandatory safety regulations. Reports delays and accidents. Cleans the interior of the bus. Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness. Performs other duties and accepts responsibilities as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to communicate orally and in writing with parents, staff, and community leaders. Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, standing, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
Conditions of Employment:
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required. Must possess a valid North Carolina driver's license. Applicant must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) when requested for purposes of driving a school bus.
