SUMMARY:

The Academic Intervention Teacher provides engaging instruction to support the academic, social and emotional growth of each student in alignment with the Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools' mission and the Ohio Learning Standards. This position fosters a safe, inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student success through collaboration, differentiation and restorative practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Models empathy and compassion for all.
• Implements restorative practices and proactive classroom management strategies.
• Problem solves and thinks critically, flexibly and creatively to facilitate learning and support students.
• Collaborates with colleagues, administrators and families to support student growth.
• Maintains curiosity and continuously seeks knowledge and understanding through ongoing professional learning.
• Adheres to the Ohio Standards for the Teaching Profession.
• Understands and implements strategies to meet district goals.
• Integrates technology and innovative instructional strategies to enhance learning.
• Maintains accurate records of student progress and attendance, and communicates effectively with families.
• Contributes to and implements student learning plans such as Individual Education Plans, Behavior Intervention Plans and plans developed through Multi-tiered Systems of Support.
• Upholds all district policies, procedures and ethical standards.
• Attends staff meetings, professional development and school-sponsored activities, as required.
• Maintains the appropriate licensure for the assigned position.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervises students.

EDUCATION and/or

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Education.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

• Valid Ohio Teaching Certificate or License in the required grade level(s) and/or content area(s).
• Clear BCI/FBI background checks in accordance with Ohio law.
