Manufacturing Cost Accountant Responsibilities:
Assist in annual budgeting and standard cost setting process, forecasting, and reporting of the income statement and balance sheet Manage annual physical inventory process and related reconciliations Manage CapEx process and projects with related tracking reconciliations Manage the obsolete & slow-moving inventory reserves and planning Identify and investigate material variances to ensure accurate material cost Execute standards-setting process and maintain standard costs in ERP Partner with Controller on the monthly close process, balance sheet reconciliations, and journal entries Assist in the education and compliance of financial processes and policies, supporting compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and related audits, as well as company practices & values Drive and participate in operational excellence initiatives to support achievement of organizational goals Ensure the production of timely, accurate and relevant financial reports to plant management to facilitate understanding and analysis of the business and business opportunities Coach & develop cost accountants on both material cost system work and data analytics Support with ad hoc analysis of results, budgets, and forecasts with focus on P&L performance, cash flow, working capital optimization, investments and productivity, and financial ratios
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related discipline required Minimum of 3 years of accounting and/or finance experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment Experience in complex integrated supply chain is a plus Strong PC Skills required:
Advanced Excel Skills, PowerPoint, and Teams Key Competencies:
Skills and competencies should include verbal and written communication, attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving, and the ability to work independently and, also, in a team environment Proven success implementing process improvement and change management initiatives strongly preferred Strong ability to coach and teach junior cost accountants both technical and soft skills relevant to their role Understanding of cost accounting with overheads and absorption, material backflushing, inventory valuation, and material variance system management
