Job Description

Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Clerk plays a vital role within the finance department by providing essential support in managing financial transactions and maintaining accurate records. This position is responsible for a range of clerical and administrative tasks, including data entry, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and assisting with the preparation of financial reports. The Accounting Clerk works closely with other members of the finance team to ensure timely and accurate posting of transactions, compliance with internal policies, and alignment with regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Adheres to all El Concilio California Policies and Procedures. Process accounts payable and receivable transactions in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain accurate and complete accounting records, files, and documentation. Reconcile bank and credit card statements and resolve discrepancies. Assist with payroll journal entries and benefit tracking, as needed. Support monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes. Prepare supporting documents for audits and financial reviews. Track and code expenses to appropriate programs, grants, and funding sources. Generate invoices, receipts, and donor acknowledgments when needed. Assist in preparing internal financial reports and grant-related financial documentation. Respond to internal and external financial inquiries in a professional and timely manner. Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, nonprofit accounting standards, and funder requirements. Perform general administrative tasks and other duties as assigned by the Finance Manager or Director. Required to work all El Concilio California special events as needed. Other Duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and/or administrative staff. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 1-3 years of experience in a similar capacity is highly preferred; an Associate's degree in Accounting or related field with 2-4 years of experience in a similar capacity is highly preferred; a High School Diploma or GED equivalency 3-5 years of experience as an Accountant Clerk is required in lieu of a degree.

Valid Driver's License Up to date automobile insurance Successful completion of Sexual Harassment Prevention Training Successful completion of Workplace Violence Prevention Training Successful completion of HIPPA Training
PHYSICAL DEMAND

The employee will occasionally move program items from agency vehicles or storage areas.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primary work environment is an office setting and public venues. The employee will frequently be required to work outside in moderate weather. Projects and events can create a high-paced environment.
