Overview:

We are working with a Inventory-Based Public Company in the Orange County area. They are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Consultant to join their team on an hourly basis. This role is designed for a professional who can quickly ramp up and make a significant impact on their financial processes. The individual will be responsible for month-end close, reconciliations, inventory valuations, and reporting activities. This position is paid on an hourly basis on a W2. Their ideal candidate must have experience in a Public Company environment, and ideally have inventory accounting experience.

Responsibilities:

Guide and support the core accounting team through a thorough and timely Q2 close process. Assume primary responsibility for the standard costing environment, maintaining accuracy across all standard cost inputs, metrics, and adjustments. Perform overhead allocation calculations while maintaining historical records and executing periodic roll-forwards. Manage freight invoice processing and ensure freight charge accruals are calculated and recorded accurately. Evaluate and calculate key inventory reserves, including Excess and Obsolete (E&O), general inventory, and refurbished inventory valuations. Reconcile and analyze the perpetual inventory sub-ledger, ensuring consistency and alignment with the general ledger at all times. Monitor global inventory in transit, maintaining appropriate timing and ownership cutoffs in accordance with company policy.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field. Proven experience in a Public Company. Ability to ramp up quickly and adapt to dynamic work environments.
