Job Description:

Accounting Manager (Lead Accountant) Minimum of 1-2 days per week in-office in either San Mateo or Redwood Shores. A fast-growing, VC-backed, AI-enabled financial services firm is seeking an Accounting Manager to take ownership of the company's internal financial operations and help support its continued growth. Reporting directly to the CAO, this person will play a key role in managing and improving the company's accounting and finance processes. This is the top accounting and finance role within the organization, offering direct exposure to leadership and the opportunity to help build and scale the company's financial infrastructure from the ground up. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building structure, and operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where they can make a meaningful impact. What You'll Be Doing You'll play a key role in maintaining the company's financial operations and supporting leadership with financial insights.

Responsibilities include:

Own and execute the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports, including budget vs. actuals, cash flow forecasting, and key variance drivers Lead FP&A initiatives, including annual planning, quarterly reforecasting, and long-range financial modeling Develop and maintain dashboards and KPIs to monitor financial and operational performance Manage customer invoicing and billing operations, including coordinating with internal teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness Handle client invoicing for subscription billing and reconcile billing and subscription-based payments Oversee day-to-day collections and revenue processes, including timely follow-up with customers Analyze revenue performance by employee and tax director Assist with new employee onboarding through payroll Support state filings and annual reports Partner closely with the CAO on financial operations and strategic initiatives Participate in financial analysis and operational projects as the company grows Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation across finance workflows Help build and improve internal accounting processes What We're Looking For Strong accounting background Comfortable owning the accounting function Experience with subscription billing or payment platforms (Stripe experience is a plus) Highly proactive and self-directed Someone who takes initiative and enjoys building structure in a growing company Strong attention to detail with a process improvement mindset Compensation Up to $150,000 base salary Equity participation - all employees share in the company's success Please send your resume in Word format to: Gabby Opsahl Premier Financial Search gabby@pfssearch.com Let's Connect & Explore Your Options We are actively hiring for a range of positions across multiple firms.
