Accounting Manager/Supervisor

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager/Supervisor to lead core accounting activities for a chemicals manufacturing organization in Bensenville, Illinois. This role will guide financial reporting, maintain strong control practices, and provide insights that support sound business decisions. The position also partners with operational and executive teams to strengthen planning, improve accounting processes, and support efficient financial performance.

Responsibilities:

• Direct daily accounting functions across the general ledger, payables, receivables, fixed asset records, and cash reconciliations to ensure accurate financial data.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, including the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules within established deadlines.
• Review operating results, identify notable variances, and present clear explanations and recommendations to leadership.
• Maintain accounting structures, policies, and procedures to support consistent reporting and proper treatment of revenue and expenses.
• Build and monitor internal controls that protect company assets and promote compliance with financial and accounting standards.
• Oversee tax-related reporting activities, including sales tax support, insurance reporting, and other required regulatory filings.
• Contribute to budgeting and forecasting efforts while tracking cash flow, working capital trends, and capital spending performance.
• Prepare financial summaries, management reports, and dashboards that help leaders evaluate business results and priorities.
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members while encouraging process enhancements and effective use of financial systems.
• Partner with production, purchasing, human resources, and senior management on planning initiatives and operational improvements.
