Pay Range :
$25.00 - $30.39 / hour SUMMARY Under general supervision, the Part-Time Accounting Technician provides essential clerical and financial assistance to the Deputy General Manager and the Management Analyst. Must be punctual, dependable individual with a keen eye for detail to manage accounts payable, process bank deposits, and deliver high-quality administrative support. The ideal candidate will be a proactive multi-tasker dedicated to maintaining organizational efficiency and accuracy across all District operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Processing:
Prepare and process bank deposits. Reconcile petty cash. Process accounts payable by verifying totals on forms, requisitions, or bills and printing checks for payment. Track and maintain purchase orders.
Clerical Support:
Sort and distribute incoming mail; prepare outgoing mail. Provide basic clerical support for supervisory and managerial staff. Copy, scan, and distribute documents.
Records Management:
Establish and maintain files for department memos, correspondence, contracts, and agreements. Maintain accurate District records and ensure strict confidentiality with sensitive information. Sort, check, and file basic records.
Office Operations:
Order and maintain office supplies. Perform other related work as necessary. Answer phones professionally and direct calls to the appropriate personnel. Provide exceptional customer service to the public by answering questions and inquiries as needed.
Qualifications Technical Skills:
Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and demonstrate the ability to learn and use new computer software.
Professionalism:
Proven track record of dependability and high attention to detail. Other duties may be assigned.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT QUALIFICATIONS
Applicant must pass a Live Scan fingerprint process for criminal history background check, a pre-employment functional capacity test and a pre-employment drug screen for the presence of controlled substances. If you do not successfully complete each of these, your conditional offer will be withdrawn on its own terms.

Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to learn specialized software quickly.
Bilingual Skills:

EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and six or more months of accounting support experience, preferably involving public contract work. Associate degree or relevant certification is a plus. Hands on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports. Competency in Microsoft Office, databases, and accounting software. Data entry and word processing skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintaining instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Aptitude for numbers.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Driver's License & Insurance:
A valid California Driver's License or California Identification Card (or a School ID if applicable). Proof of valid vehicular insurance. (if applicable) First Aide/CPR Certification Current First Aid/CPR certification for infants, Children, and Adults is required. If you don't currently hold this certification, you must obtain it within 60 days of the hire date.

Examples of Duties:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Provide accounting and clerical support to the Deputy General Manager & Management Analyst Enter key data of financial transactions into database daily Receive bills and invoices for payment in accordance with the established procedures; match to purchase order and assign the appropriate accounting string. Print checks for payment, mail to recipient and file/scan invoices Provide Positive Pay information to bank after bills have been paid; daily check for Positive Pay exceptions Purchase and maintain adequate office supplies and order at the direction of the Deputy General Manager & Management Analyst Prepare bank deposits File and organize Park Documents Assist in preparation of conference room for Board or Committee Meetings
