Accounts Payable Accountant

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accounts Payable Accountant to join our finance team. Responsibilities Process and verify all incoming vendor invoices using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Workday, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Perform account reconciliations for accounts payable ledgers and resolve discrepancies promptly. Prepare and record journal entries related to accounts payable transactions, including accruals and adjustments. Maintain detailed records of all payments, invoices, and vendor communications in compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls. Collaborate with procurement, finance, human resources, and external vendors to resolve billing issues efficiently. Assist with month-end closing activities by reconciling general ledger accounts related to payables and preparing supporting documentation. Support internal audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Utilize various financial systems such as ADP, Kronos, PeopleSoft, Ceridian, or UltiPro for payroll management and benefits administration integration. Contribute to process improvements by identifying automation opportunities within accounts payable workflows. Ensure compliance with company policies and external regulations while maintaining high standards of data entry accuracy. Experience Proven experience in accounts payable or related accounting roles within a corporate or public accounting setting. Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, double entry bookkeeping, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation. Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Workday, or similar platforms; familiarity with HRIS systems like ADP or UltiPro is a plus. Knowledge of SOX compliance requirements and internal control procedures related to financial reporting. Familiarity with payroll management systems such as Kronos or Ceridian enhances overall understanding of integrated financial processes. Demonstrated ability to perform detailed analysis skills for resolving discrepancies and ensuring data accuracy. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication skills for effective collaboration across departments including human resources and finance teams.
