Accounts Payable Clerk -
Temporary Location:
Loch Sheldrake, NY (Sullivan County)
Employment Type:

Monday-Friday | 9:00 AM - 5:00
PM Pay Rate:
$25 per hour
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Clerk to support financial and accounting operations on a temporary, full-time basis in Loch Sheldrake, NY. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation, attention to detail, and experience working with vendor payments, reconciliations, and financial reporting. This role supports both day-to-day accounts payable functions and broader accounting activities related to audits, budgeting, and compliance.
Accounts Payable Clerk Responsibilities:
Process vendor invoices by verifying purchases, receipts, and payment authorizations Maintain organized vendor files and reconcile accounts payable balances Coordinate with purchasing staff to resolve invoice discrepancies Record and post journal entries and maintain ledgers and trial balances Perform bank reconciliations and assist with financial statement preparation Support the development and improvement of accounting procedures and workflows Assist with departmental budgeting and financial planning activities Compile and analyze financial and statistical data for reporting and cost studies Prepare required financial reports and documentation for governmental agencies Monitor fiscal compliance related to grants, sub-grants, and contracts Participate in contract reviews and audits, including on-site evaluations when required Prepare audit documentation, findings, and follow-up on corrective actions Maintain accurate financial records and coordinate with external auditors as needed
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles Ability to accurately apply debit and credit rules across account types Experience with accounts payable, general ledger, and reconciliations Familiarity with governmental accounting, audits, or compliance preferred Analytical skills to interpret financial data and reports Ability to prepare clear, organized financial statements and written reports Comfortable following detailed procedures and complex instructions Proficiency with office software, including spreadsheets, word processing, and databases Strong attention to detail, organization, and professional integrity Effective interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across departments Why This Opportunity?
