Job Description

Accounts Receivable Analyst University of California - San Francisco 90.700 United States, California, Emeryville 6425 Christie Avenue (Show on map) May 12, 2026 The Government Accounts Analyst, under the direction of the Government Assistant Director, will have exposure to all facets of PFS systems and operations, and will function as an advisor to the team and its leadership. Provides quantitative analytic support, problem-solving, and financial reporting as a seasoned, experienced professional. Demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge and exercises judgement within defined policies and procedures, and management guidance, to determine appropriate action. Interfaces directly with PFS Leadership teams to proactively research, identify, communicate, and aid in the resolution of operational and government payor-related trends impacting Accounts Receivable (AR) and overall Revenue Cycle operations. Functions with a high degree of autonomy with full understanding of all components of the Revenue Cycle and Government payor billing regulations and reimbursement practices. Completes complex projects of diverse scope and/or portions of large projects. Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a related area, or a High school diploma or GED and four years of relevant experience. plus, three or more years of experience analyzing complex financial data, identifying trends in revenue cycle operations and Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other third-party payor reimbursement, including but not limited to industry standards, regulatory compliance, and best practices. Keen attention to detail, can work independently to organize time and competing priorities, see tasks and projects through to completion within the required timeframe, and effectively address complex, urgent issues as they arise. Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and convey complex information in a clear, concise manner, and to prepare and present a variety of financial reports and analyses. Excellent analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of workflows and systems and propose innovative solutions. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively on complex projects in a team environment with staff from a wide variety of business and clinical areas. Extensive knowledge in report development, dashboard design, and various software tools specific to healthcare revenue cycle management. Skills in common database, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Proven ability to work with managers, serving as a technical resource, providing recommendations and advice on regulatory changes, and industry trends and developments in revenue cycle management. Knowledge of hospital billing workflows, including but not limited to: hospital contracts, insurance billing requirements, ICD/CPT4/HCPC/DRG codes. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Tableau, and other analytic and report writing software. Demonstrated understanding of the issues, processes, reporting instruments, metrics, internal control practices, and tools and techniques used to measure and analyze the revenue cycle. Thorough knowledge of the practices, policies, procedures, and concepts of the healthcare revenue cycle and its component operations, including charge capture, coding, billing, collections, third-party reimbursements, days in AR, net collection rate, and denial rates.
