Send job Job Details Job DescriptionJob Description Bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field, Adapted Physical Education (APE) certification, and 1+ years Adaptive PE Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Step into a dynamic contract opportunity supporting middle school students as an Adaptive Physical Education (APE) Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. This part-time role, approximately 2-2.5 days per week, involves providing essential direct and consultative adaptive physical education services across multiple district middle school campuses. You'll play a pivotal role in enhancing student access to physical education while fostering collaboration among staff and supporting students with disabilities, all while working onsite in a supportive learning community.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Current Adaptive PE certification or licensure (where applicable) Proven background working in educational settings, ideally with middle school populations Demonstrated expertise supporting students with disabilities in adaptive or special education settings Excellent communication and collaboration skills for partnership with general education and special education teams Skill in managing direct instruction and consultative responsibilities effectively Reliable organization and time management abilities Must be able to pass a drug screening Completion of fingerprinting and background/CORI check required Dependable transportation for travel between district locations Commitment to prompt arrival and departure; effective communication regarding absences
Responsibilities:
Deliver direct and consultative adaptive PE services as outlined in student IEPs Work with school teams to adapt physical activities, ensuring meaningful participation for all students Travel to designated middle schools within the district to support students and collaborate with staff Maintain thorough and compliant documentation and progress monitoring Communicate proactively with school personnel and supervisors regarding student progress and needs If you are dedicated to empowering students through adaptive physical education and thrive in a collaborative, school-based environment, this role is an excellent fit.
