Job Description
The Administrative Public Housing Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the Executive Director in the management and administration of both the Marinette County Housing Authority's Housing Choice Voucher (HCV/Section 8) program and the Wausaukee Housing Authority's Public Housing program. This is a hands-on position in a small office where your work directly impacts housing stability in the community and requires strong organization, dependability, and the ability to manage responsibilities independently. Duties Assist with the administration of Section 8 (HCV) and Public Housing programs, ensuring adherence to Fair Housing regulations Manage tenant applications, conduct eligibility screenings, and process lease agreements Coordinate with landlords and tenants regarding lease compliance, rent adjustments, and dispute resolution Maintain accurate tenant files, payment histories, and compliance documentation Provide basic bookkeeping support, including deposits, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and monthly reporting Complete Annual and Interim Reexaminations for program participants Collaborate with community partners to promote fair housing practices and resolve tenant concerns Prepare notices, correspondence, and general administrative documentation Participate in a shared on-call rotation for building-related emergencies (clear procedures and support provided) Work Environment & Expectations This is a small, team-oriented office where each staff member plays a critical role. The position serves as a primary point of contact for residents and the public and requires professionalism, sound judgment, and the ability to manage responsibilities independently. Reliable attendance, accountability, and dependability are essential. Qualifications Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including residents, landlords, and government agencies Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) Valid driver's license Preferred (not required): Knowledge of Section 8, landlord-tenant law, Fair Housing regulations, or property management principles Experience working in public housing, government programs, or a related field Schedule & Compensation Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System Health insurance stipend (approximately $750/month, based on eligibility and current policy) Employer-paid basic life insurance (with optional supplemental coverage available) Paid holidays, vacation, and sick leave Stable public sector position offering meaningful community impact How to Apply Submit your cover letter, resume, references, and letters of recommendation to: Jennifer Ary, Executive Director Wausaukee Housing Authority P.O.
