Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit The University of North Carolina TEACCH Autism program is system of university-based regional centers to serve autistic children, adolescents and adults and their families. As part of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the program has an active clinical, teaching, and research program. TEACCH operates seven community regional clinics. Our clinics and programs offer a set of core services along with unique demonstration programs meeting the needs of autistic individuals, their families, and professionals across the state of North Carolina. Also, part of TEACCH is the Carolina Living and Learning Center, a residential/vocational training facility for autistic adults as well as an Employment Services program providing Job Coaching and related services to adults on the spectrum. TEACCH is currently part of the North Carolina Area Health Education Centers (AHEC) program. All TEACCH programs are coordinated through a central administration and research unit in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. TEACCH provides clinical services such as diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy, speech language therapy, occupational therapy and parent support groups. In addition, TEACCH conducts training within the state of North Carolina, nationally and internationally and provides consultation for teachers, residential care providers, and other professionals from a variety of disciplines. TEACCH conducts clinical research focused on providing evidence-based care to autistic individuals and their families in their home communities. Our research examines intervention effectiveness in clinic, school, and community settings. Ongoing research includes a school-based anxiety intervention program, a community college-based transition to adulthood program, a telehealth program treating depression and anxiety in autistic adults, and a physical activity program for autistic adults. Studies also examine the services needs related to early intervention, employment and aging. TEACCH has 48 full and part-time faculty, 150+ staff and provides training opportunities in both research and clinical activities for interns, postdocs and other graduate and undergraduate students. This position is located at the TEACCH Administration & Research Building in Carrboro, NC. Position Summary The primary purpose of this position is to provide program/operational support for TEACCH and executive level support for the Director of Business and Operations, Director of Clinical Services, and Director of Training. This support includes but is not limited to: General Support to the TEACCH Program Executive Support to Directors (Clinical, Training, and Business & Operations) Visitor and Event Support Facilities Coordination Communications The position is the primary point of contact for TEACCH, answering the main phone number and greeting visitors. This position involves a detailed knowledge of the TEACCH programs and services as well as knowledge of the staff and faculty in each unit. The position will independently answer routine questions and information requests regarding TEACCH and its services. The position is expected to determine when inquiry should be redirected to others and be able to clearly communicate the nature of these inquires as appropriate. The position is expected to resolve issues and problems or make recommendations regarding resolution of issues and problems as appropriate, often utilizing EPIC @UNC and applicable policies and procedures. This position provides direct support to the Director of Business and Operations, the Director of Clinical Services for TEACCH, and the Director of Training, and includes scheduling appointments, creating correspondence, preparing meeting materials, preparing presentation slides and communicating with a wide variety of individuals within the University, the organization and outside entities or individuals on behalf of the Directors. This position will also support the Directors with special projects from creating workflows, to data entry and analysis, distributing reports, or compiling information from meetings into digestible information for distribution. This position works closely with the Executive Assistant providing support of the Executive Director's needs as requested. Other program support includes logistics for internal events and meetings (coordinating dates, setting up/determining catering orders, coordinating space, either internal or outside of TEACCH) as well as logistic support for larger internal and external annual events such as the TEACCH retreat and conference. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Management Preferences Prior experience working in university/higher education setting. Experience in a clinic or academic medical setting preferred. Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred.
