The

is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) civil liberties and civil rights organization. working to advance equality, freedom and justice through public education and litigation. Together with the ACLU of San Diego & Imperial Counties, the 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization that does our legislative lobbying work, we are a prominent force for the protection and expansion of fundamental rights in California's second-most populous county (San Diego) and the county with the highest per capita Latina/o population (Imperial). While there are more than 50 ACLU affiliates nationwide, our work covers the length of California's border with Mexico. We work collaboratively with the National ACLU and with ACLU affiliates in California, on the U.S-Mexico border and throughout the United States. Future Position Summary:
The
ACLU-SDIC
has two priorities for the next four years: strive to be a great place to work and to transform systems to achieve lasting and impactful progress toward equity, social, racial and economic justice while moving toward abolition. The Operations and Program Support Manager (OPSM) is a key member of the
ACLU-SDIC
Finance, Administration and Operations Department and plays a significant role in supporting the initiatives to meet these two organizational priorities. The OPSM reports to the Deputy Director of Organizational Effectiveness (DDOE) with a dotted reporting line to the Chief of External Affairs. In collaboration with the Deputy Director of Organizational Effectiveness (DDOE), the Operations and Program Support Manager (OPSM) supports operational efforts that help staff align around a shared purpose and organizational values. The OPSM is a detail-oriented team player and a people-person with a great attitude capable of proactive thinking and is expected to play a pivotal role in overseeing initiatives that improve the organization's effectiveness by supporting efforts that align operations with organizational priorities and program initiatives. The OPSM manages the Guest Relations and Office Operations Associate. This role develops and oversees the implementation in-office and virtual administrative and logistical support .
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Program Support o Create and Manage volunteer program (including recruitment, training and assignments) to broaden the reach and visibility of the organization's priorities. o Lead the organization's customer service response to donors and members. o In alignment with external affairs team strategy, oversee ongoing mass outreach to new members and stewardship of the broader file (including mass mailings). o Oversee the response, tracking, and coordination of presentation and speaking requests from community groups. o Project manages special projects or events as needed or assigned by Executive Leadership and Senior Leadership Team members. o Serve as an organizational ambassador representing the organization at community groups and civic clubs to build awareness and support for the organization. o Manage the program supplies ordering process including branded swag and program printed materials o Ensure adequate support for all events being held in the office including ordering food, assisting guests, etc. o Ensure departments have support in the management of program expense processes by ensuring vendors are paid accurately and on time in alignment with organizational policy. o Oversee travel arrangements for staff, including flights, lodging, and local travel in alignment with organizational budget and values when needed. Operations and Office Management o Support the People and Culture Manager to streamline employee transitions and deliver a seamless onboarding and offboarding experience. o Oversee the workplace experience, ensuring a safe, organized and welcoming environment for staff and visitors o Maintain efficient office operations and space management by updating and tracking the organizational calendar meticulously to avoid conflicts and overlapping commitments. o Develops, organizes, and implements administrative processes and systems to ensure the smooth flow of office operations. o Implements solutions to problems and improves efficiency and quality of administrative activities. o Works with external vendors to procure office equipment and oversees inventory management of all organizational equipment and supplies. o Oversees the maintenance of the physical office environments at both the San Diego and Imperial Counties offices. Management Duties o Directly supervise the Guest Relations and Office Operations Associate. o Manage the volunteer pilot program. o Model equitable and inclusive management practices consistent with the organization's values. o Participate as a member of the Finance, Administration and Operations team contributing to department decision-making and priorities.
Our Must Haves:
At least five years' substantial relevant administrative experience; non-profit experience a plus. At least two years' experience managing a volunteer, intern, or staff member Proficiency with office technology, project management and information systems that include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, Asana, NGP-Van, and virtual meeting platforms such as Teams and Zoom. Broad knowledge of and commitment to advancing the ACLU's values, mission and goals. Demonstrated commitment to knowledge of issues relating to civil liberties and civil rights. Conscious of other social identities, cultures, biases, perspectives, and world views; approaches work to advance the organization's goals. Strong organizational and analytical skills and attention to detail with commitment to completeness and accuracy of work product. Demonstrated experience with complex calendaring, travel, and event planning, including preparing and managing budget for events and meetings. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with individuals and teams. Demonstrated creativity, problem solving, initiative, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal skills; the ability to build trust and respect by effectively communicating with people at all levels and from various backgrounds using clear and concise language. Ability to think proactively, anticipate problems, analyze situations, and develop and recommend effective solutions; conflict resolution skills are critical. Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritize, respond to shifting demands, multi-task, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment. Demonstrated sound judgment in handling and maintaining confidential and sensitive information. Ability to troubleshoot standard office equipment.

Physical Requirements:
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to exchange accurate information, detect/identify documents and the information contained in them, move between areas in and out of the office to complete their role. The employee may need to move various equipment including computer to their work location.
Hybrid Working:
The
ACLUF-SDIC
is headquartered in San Diego, California, though employees have hybrid schedules that allow for remote work.

San Diego and Imperial Counties Compensation:
The classification salary range for this position is $85,000 to $98,000 . Salary will be determined by a variety of factors, including the knowledge, skills, and experience of the individual selected. Excellent benefits include four weeks paid vacation; 17 office holidays; 100% medical, vision and dental insurance for staff members and their families; life and long-term disability insurance; gender affirming care, flexible spending accounts, EAP support, and 401(k) plan with employer match and immediate vesting of the employer match.
