The Village of Cross Plains is accepting applications for Village Administrator/Economic Development Director. Located just west of Madison, Cross Plains offers small-town charm, outstanding schools, and outdoor recreation along the Ice Age Trail, Driftless Area foothills, and Black Earth Creek. The Village is governed by a Village President and six Trustees elected to two-year, nonpartisan terms. It has a $9.2 million annual budget, including a $2.9 million General Fund, and 27 full-time and 50 part-time and seasonal employees. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, a strong work ethic, commitment to public service, positive communication skills, and a team-building approach. Supported by an experienced and dedicated staff, the Administrator will lead projects including opening a new Village Hall and Police Department, coordinating a 500-acre development with a golf course, expanding regional trails, and continuing downtown redevelopment. Starting salary is $90,000-$100,000 plus benefits, depending on qualifications. A bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, finance, planning, or a related field and five years of progressively responsible local government experience, including supervisory experience, are required. A master's degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
