Job Description

Position Overview The Law Enforcement Council of Connecticut, Inc. seeks a highly organized, mission-driven Administrative Coordinator to support the daily administration, coordination, and operational effectiveness of the organization. The Administrative Coordinator will work closely with the LEC Director, Board of Directors, member agencies, instructors, vendors, and partner organizations to ensure that programs, training activities, examinations, communications, facilities, and administrative systems are managed efficiently and professionally. About the Organization The Law Enforcement Council of Connecticut, Inc. is a nonprofit law enforcement support organization dedicated to advancing professionalism, collaboration, training, and operational excellence among Connecticut law enforcement agencies. LEC supports member agencies through regional networking, POSTC-certified training access, promotional examination services, legislative updates, and professional development opportunities. Key Responsibilities Responsible for payroll expenditures, and any associated financial obligations, including state & federal taxes. Manage day-to-day administrative operations, office workflows, schedules, records, correspondence, and organizational communications. Coordinate training programs, academies, recertification courses, professional development sessions, and related logistics, including registrations, rosters, facilities, materials, and instructor support. Support promotional examination services by coordinating timelines, candidate communications, agency requests, secure materials handling, testing logistics, and post-exam documentation. Serve as a primary point of contact for member agencies, prospective members, partner organizations, vendors, instructors, and the public. Maintain accurate organizational records, membership information, training documentation, contracts, invoices, and files in accordance with applicable policies and retention practices. Assist the LEC Director and Board of Directors with meeting preparation, agendas, minutes, reports, follow-up items, and implementation of Board-approved initiatives. Support budgeting, purchasing, accounts payable and receivable coordination, grant or program tracking, and preparation of financial information for review by leadership. Oversee facility coordination, room scheduling, equipment readiness, supplies, safety needs, and vendor services for LEC offices and training spaces. Help maintain website updates, public notices, job postings, training announcements, email distributions, and other communications. Develop and improve operational procedures, forms, checklists, and systems that promote efficiency, accountability, transparency, and consistent service to member agencies. Exercise discretion and confidentiality when handling sensitive law enforcement, personnel, testing, financial, or organizational information. Perform other related duties as assigned to support LEC's mission and operational needs. Minimum Qualifications An associate degree or higher in Business Administration, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Nonprofit Management, or a related field is preferred, or equivalent education and/or experience demonstrating the ability to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position will be considered. Candidates should have progressively responsible experience in operations, administration, program coordination, law enforcement administration, municipal government, education, or a comparable environment. Strong organizational, written communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, schedules, and stakeholders with professionalism and attention to detail. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, QuickBooks and Teams; ability to learn registration, records, financial, website, or database systems. Ability to maintain confidentiality, sound judgment, and professional discretion in a law enforcement support environment. Preferred Qualifications Sworn law enforcement experience, experience working with law enforcement agencies, public safety organizations, municipalities, police training academies, or state certification and training requirements. Familiarity with Connecticut law enforcement training standards, POSTC processes, recruit academy operations, or professional development programming. Experience supporting a nonprofit Board of Directors, membership association, or public-sector governing body. Experience coordinating secure testing, confidential documents, vendor contracts, or multi-agency events. Experience and /or understanding of State of Connecticut Regional Grant system. Experience of the Police Officer Standard Training Council recruit hiring process. Ability to obtain POSTC Instructor certification. The role is primarily administrative and office-based, with occasional attendance at training programs, meetings, examinations, or events. Some early morning, evening, or occasional weekend hours may be required based on academy, training, testing, or organizational schedules. This is a full-in-person, on-site position.

$55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
