Job Description
Job Requirements Under the general supervision of the Director of Patient Care Services, an Administrative Supervisor coordinates, prioritizes and optimizes patient flow activities by utilizing bed placement, staffing, and clinical information to optimize patient throughput. This role demonstrates values of compassion, discovery, excellence, diversity, and integrity.
Primary Responsibilities:
The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties performed by personnel so classified. Drives improvement in capacity management and patient flow. Develops, implements, and sustains efforts to improve patient flow in partnership with Patient Care Service Leadership and the Project Manager. Coordinates, collaborates, and communicates with administration, physicians, nursing management staff, patient and support services, and external agencies to facilitate the delivery of quality patient care. Communicates with Nurse Leaders and the staffing office to inform and assist in resource allocation. Serves as the on-site administrative resource for the facility during evenings, weekends, nights, holidays, and other designated time periods. Responds to organizational emergencies and issues and escalates issues per policies as needed. Facilitates and coordinates bed meetings to support patient flow and resource allocation. Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department, or unit patient safety and capacity management initiatives. Performs all other related duties as assigned.Work Experience Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Ability to think critically, develop, plan, and organize projects. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Ability to use computer systems/programs to manage clinical/administrative data. Previous experience with scheduling of staff for a large unit. Exceptional clinical expertise in Medical Surgical and Critical Care Nursing. General understanding of data collection and analysis. General understanding of financials for a hospital unit.Education & Experience:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a 4-year / Bachelor's degree (Required) Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or eligibility through reciprocity (Required) Five (5) years of experience in a clinical setting (Required) BLS Certification (Required) 0-1 year of clinical expertise in nursing specialty areas.
