About Us The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than 14,000 employees. It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters! Description of Work This position supervises and trains inmates in all aspects of Braille transcription and production. This supervisor will supervise not only inmates working to attain their respective certifications, but will also supervise production of transcription services required by Correction Enterprise's customers. This position trains and supervises inmates in various aspects of Braille transcription of textbooks. The translation of print into Braille involves several different certifications in order to encompass the full spectrum of literary, formatting, proofreading, math, science, music and graphics used in the translation process. Each of these areas has its own certification requiring potentially several years for completion of all available certifications within the Braille industry. The Correction Enterprise Supervisor receives orders from Correction Enterprises customers, such as the Department of Instruction, for the translation of printed books and other printed documents into volumes of Braille formatted files. This position will oversee the receipt of Braille orders via the BIDS order entry and job tracking system, distribution and team assignment of projects, ensure accuracy during the translation process and work to meet customer expected lead times. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities/ Management Preferences are not required. Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. Pay:
$39,244.00 - $68,679.00 per year
