This paid role helps keep our church office running smoothly and our congregation informed. The person in this position will be a first point of contact for visitors and callers, support the pastor and ministry teams, and handle confidential information with care. Responsibilities include office administration, weekly worship materials, a digital newsletter, and basic social media updates. We are looking for someone who communicates clearly, pays attention to detail, and enjoys helping people feel connected to our church community. What you'll do Respond to routine calls, email, mail, and inquiries, and direct pastoral or sensitive matters to the appropriate leader. Maintain membership and contact records, leadership lists, the church calendar, and organized office files. Prepare correspondence, forms, meeting materials, and administrative documents. Gather information for the weekly bulletin and create PowerPoint announcement slides for worship. Coordinate the church's digital newsletter, anticipated to be published monthly or every other month. Collect content, edit brief items, arrange distribution, and help provide printed copies when needed. Create and schedule basic social media posts using approved information and photographs. Keep event and service details current and refer questions or concerns to church leadership. Coordinate submission deadlines and check names, dates, and other details before information is published. Assist with special services, church events, supplies, and other related office needs within the authorized work schedule. What we're looking for Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines. Clear, professional written and verbal communication. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, email, and basic spreadsheets. Basic familiarity with AI tools as a productivity aid for tasks such as drafting, editing, and organizing information, with care to review the work for accuracy and protect confidential information. Willingness to learn tools such as Canva, Mailchimp or a similar newsletter platform, and basic website updating skills. Good judgment and discretion with confidential information. Employment is contingent upon completion of a background check in accordance with church policy. A respectful, service oriented approach to working with people of different ages and backgrounds. Church office, administrative, communications, or social media experience is preferred. Familiarity with church operations is helpful but not required. Schedule and employment details The regular schedule will be established with the pastor and will include on-site office hours. Some flexibility may be needed around holidays, special services, or events. Attendance at every Sunday worship service is not ordinarily required, although occasional Sunday availability may be requested. This is a nonexempt W-2 position. Employment is subject to church personnel policies, a background check, and required confidentiality, technology-use, social media, and church property agreements.
