Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Billing Coordinator in the Mat-Su area! In this vital role, you will be the driving force behind accurate and efficient medical billing processes, ensuring timely reimbursement and seamless communication between healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients. Your expertise will help optimize revenue cycles while maintaining exceptional customer service standards. Duties Review and process medical claims using billing software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to ensure accuracy and completeness. Assign appropriate diagnosis codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards, along with CPT codes for procedures, to facilitate correct billing submissions. Verify insurance coverage, health insurance details, and patient information to prevent claim denials. Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims by communicating with insurance companies and patients to resolve outstanding balances. Maintain detailed medical records and documentation related to billing activities, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify coding or billing discrepancies and improve overall claims processing efficiency. Stay current with updates in medical coding guidelines, healthcare claims management practices, and insurance policies to ensure compliance. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare claims processing. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel, along with experience using billing software and EMR/EHR systems. Familiarity with DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures. Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Ability to interpret health insurance policies and explain billing details clearly to diverse audiences. Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in coding, documentation, and data entry. Prior experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is highly preferred.
